Padres rally from six-run deficit to beat Brewers

David Eckstein drove in three runs and the San Diego Padres came back from a six-run deficit to beat the Milwaukee Brewers 11-7 on Friday night to win their fourth straight game.

Chris Iannetta and Carlos Gonzalez hit home runs on consecutive pitches leading off the eighth inning to lift the Colorado Rockies to a 5-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night.

The Oakland Athletics are hitting the way the once-powerful Boston Red Sox used to.

“It looked like they didn’t finish hitting since (Tuesday) night,” said Mike Lowell, who had five RBIs for Boston. “I guess we ran into them at the wrong time.”

For the second straight night, the Athletics outslugged the Red Sox, winning 8-6 on Wednesday a night after they pounded out 21 hits for a 9-8 win in 11 innings.

For 99 games, the Los Angeles Dodgers avoided losing three in a row. Game No. 100 was a stinker that ended a franchise-record run.

Jamie Moyer pitched 6 2-3 shutout innings, Ryan Howard hit a two-run homer and the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-2 on Monday night.

Baffling the weak-hitting Diamondbacks with a mix of 80 mph fastballs and even softer changeups, the 46-year-old Moyer (10-7) worked out of jams in each of the first three innings.

David Ortiz jump-started Boston’s sluggish offense with a three-run homer, Adam LaRoche added a two-run shot in his Red Sox debut and Jon Lester pitched into the eighth inning in a 7-2 win over the struggling Baltimore Orioles on Saturday night.

Baltimore, which lost for the 14th time in 18 games, dropped its 11th straight in Fenway Park dating to last July.

Yankees rally past Athletics for seventh successive win

The New York Yankees overcame a lengthy rain delay to rally to a 6-3 victory over the Oakland Athletics and win their seventh successive game on Thursday.

The start of the game was delayed for almost three hours, and once it started Oakland took an early 2-0 lead before Sabathia settled down and gave the Yankees over-worked bullpen some rest.
