Amber Harris had 18 points to lead No. 12 Xavier to an 81-60 victory over Mississippi State.

April Phillips added 16 points and Ta’Shia Phillips had her sixth double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Harris also had six rebounds, helping Xavier dominate the boards 43-25.

The Musketeers were coming off back-to-back losses to Michigan State and Michigan.

Italians go 1-2 in Alta Badia giant slalom

Italian skiers Max Blardone and Davide Simoncelli finished 1-2 on the challenging Gran Risa giant slalom on home snow Sunday.

Blardone led both legs and clocked a two-run combined time of 2 minutes, 35.76 seconds for his fifth World Cup victory - all in giant slalom. Simoncelli finished 0.43 seconds behind and Cyprien Richard of France, who was sixth in the first leg, was 1.

Eastern Illinois beats Belmont 63-60

Tyler Laser scored 14 points to lead Eastern Illinois to a 63-60 win over Belmont on Saturday night.

Trailing 34-26 early in the second half, Eastern Illinois went on an 8-0 run, and a layup from Granger tied the score at 34 with 13:45 remaining.

Jeremy Granger added 13 points for the Panthers , who lost to Belmont 95-62 on Nov.

Early run carries No. 1 Kansas past Michigan 75-64

Marcus Morris had a career-high 23 points and 10 rebounds, and Sherron Collins scored 19 to help No. 1 Kansas hold on for a grinding 75-64 win over Michigan on Saturday.

Collins was 7 of 10 from the floor after a 1-for-12 game against La Salle.

Kansas (10-0) wasn’t always crisp in winning its 48th straight home game, using a big first-half run to take the lead and hanging on from there.

Vonn opens big lead in World Cup super-combi

Lindsey Vonn took a commanding lead after the downhill run of a World Cup super-combi Friday in the French Alps.

“I didn’t expect such an amazing run,” Vonn said. “I needed as much time as possible to stay out ahead of Maria. I made a lot of mistakes in the middle but I did not seem to lose any time.

Machado leads Iona past Albany 75-62

Scott Machado scored 14 points and had six assists and five steals as Iona rolled past Albany (N.Y.) 75-62 on Thursday night in the first meeting between the two teams.

The Great Danes , who have lost five of their last six, used a 17-4 run to lead 26-16 with 9:38 left in the first half. Iona closed out the half 25-10 to lead 41-36 at the break.

Lipscomb beats Oakland City 105-68

Adnan Hodzic scored 25 points and Lipscomb had a 49-9 second-half run in a 105-68 rout of Oakland City on Saturday night.

The Bisons trailed by six points early, but edged out a 37-35 lead with less than 5 minutes left in the first half. But a jumper and a layup by Josh Slater sparked a 12-3 run and the Bisons to their first halftime lead of the season at 49-41.

Worley leads women’s GS after 1st run in Are

Tessa Worley of France held a commanding lead after the first run of a World Cup giant slalom Saturday as several of the big names faltered.

Overall World Cup leader Lindsey Vonn skied out shortly after the start after coming late into a right turn and losing control of her skis. The American has yet to finish on the podium in a giant slalom - the only discipline where she lacks a World Cup victory.

The Cleveland Cavaliers used a 29-0 first-half run to crush the Milwaukee Bucks 101-86 for their 12th win in 14 games on Sunday.

“We know how tough we are to beat when Delontes at a high level,” Clevelands LeBron James told reporters after sparking the win with 14 points and 10 assists. “It was good to see him play well.

Bloodied Vonn wins Lake Louise downhill again

Blood pouring from her mouth, Lindsey Vonn sped through a snowfall Friday to win a World Cup downhill on this course for the sixth time in six years.

“I was spitting up blood,” she said. “It was so nasty.”

Vonn said her knee smacked her chin, causing her to cut her tongue, near the top of the run.
